Due to the country’s surrounding ocean waters, seafood is a common protein in Italian cuisine. Many restaurants on the historic piers along the Trabocchi Coast offer some of the freshest seafood in the region. These locales include several that have been converted from piers built by the Veri clan. Here are a few of those restaurants:

Trabocco Punta Punciosa
Named after the pier it resides on, Punta Punciosa offers a wide assortment of seafood dishes. Patrons can expect items such as breadcrumb-stuffed calamari, guanciale-wrapped shrimp, fried cod, sardines, and anchovies. Other ingredients used in these meals include pine nuts, olive oil, and garlicky white-wine sauce.
Trabocco Cungarelle
Located in the town of Vasto, this restaurant was constructed in 1938. Diners don’t order from menus, but are instead presented with dishes made from fish caught locally that morning, a feature of many other eateries along the Trabocchi Coast’s piers. Trabocco Cungarelle also provides a multi-course eating experience that can take between three to four hours to complete.
Trabocco Punta Tufano
This restaurant doubles as an educational center that uses historical displays to educate the public about the history of the Trabocchi Coast’s piers. Like many of the area’s eateries, it employs traditional netting techniques to catch much of its fish and starts meals with a bottle of wine. Punta Tufano serves seafood such as mantis shrimp, clams, and scorpion fish, among others.
